Spotted at 7.05am in Henry Street Fremantle is blogger Michael Swanepoel. His boss can rest easy, knowing that he conducts his private meetings before hours when the streets are deserted and the shops unopened. The plants on the road belong to Moore and Moore Cafe – they stand in a reclaimed carspace, thanks to the ingenuity of Simon Naber, the retailer, and the City of Fremantle Mayor. The mayor, Dr Brad Pettit, is the ex Dean of Sustainability at Murdoch University, and has the City firmly focused on sustainable economic development. Later in the morning, another reclaimed carbay in front of Moore and Moore is filled and overflowing.
